DZMM anchor Cory Quirino, Karylle, DZMM station manager Marah Capuyan, and Matteo Guidicelli

Kapamilya stars Kuya Kim Atienza, Karylle, and Matteo Guidicelli reaffirmed their commitment to DZMM’s education advocacy by leading thousands of runners at the DZMM’s “Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo Na, Takbo Na” 5km color fun run held recently.

The three celebrities, who also participated in DZMM’s “Takbo Para sa Karunungan” in 2013, joined 3,050 participants at this year’s fun run at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig for the benefit of students affected by super typhoon Yolanda and other DZMM scholars.

Matteo, however, was unable to run this year due to a knee injury but served as one of the hosts during the post-race program.

“It’s Showtime” host Eric ‘Eruption’ Tai, actresses Diana Zubiri and Roxanne Barcelo, “Luv U” cast members Sharlene San Pedro, Jairus Aquino, and Alexa Ilacad, and models Will Devaughn and Andy Smith also took part in the run. Also present were DZMM anchors Julius Babao, Cory Quirino, Winnie Cordero, Ahwel Paz, Carl Balita, Traffic Angel Tina Marasigan, DZMM Radyo Patrol Reporters, and M.O.R. 101.9 DJs.

“The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles” grand winner Bryan Castillo, meanwhile, was joined by some of his former co-contestants in leading the run’s warm-up exercises.

The event was mounted by Run Rio, headed by running coach Rio Dela Cruz, with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation as proponent, and supported by the city government of Taguig. It was filled with fun and excitement as the runners were sprinkled with colored powder and a giant inflatable slide was erected for them.

DZMM started organizing fun runs in 1999.

DZMM also marked its anniversary with more public service projects, beginning with “DZMM Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay,” its annual bloodletting project to help patients in dire need of blood. DZMM anchors Kabayan Noli De Castro, Ted Failon, and Gerry Baja

More Filipinos prefer to start their day and get their morning dose of news, information, and commentary from DZMM Radyo Patrol Sais Trenta and its anchors Kabayan Noli De Castro, Ted Failon, and Gerry Baja, who have gone all out in helping the survivors of various disasters in the country.

According to the latest data from Kantar Media Radio Survey, more listeners in Mega Manila preferred tuning in to morning AM radio programs of the three seasoned anchors in May this year.

At 5AM, Gerry delivers scorching commentary in “Garantisadong Balita,” which got an average audience share of 30% for the said month.

Noli also serves up the news agenda for the day in his program “Kabayan” with an audience share of 34%.

Ted, meanwhile, gives blazing and witty opinion and commentary in “Failon Ngayon sa DZMM” with an audience share of 33%.

Noli, Ted, and Gerry also serve the public not only by bringing the day’s latest news but by also leading public service efforts with the help of their respective programs.

Noli headed the distribution of bags, school supplies, and uniform to students who were affected by typhoon Yolanda in Leyte and Samar, the crisis in Zamboanga, and the earthquake in Bohol. This October, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation and “Kabayan” are set to open seven classrooms in Leyte, and distribute chairs that came from the donations coursed thru Noli. He is also set to lead the inauguration for the said classrooms.

More than 5,000 students in Leyte also benefitted from Ted’s school supply drive. Aside from that, Ted spearheaded the construction of a playground made of rubber at San Fernando Elementary School with the help of sponsors and partners.

Meanwhile, Gerry has also been hands-on on his project “Garantisadong Bangka” which has given away boats made of fiber glass to fishermen in Leyte. They were distributed with the help of the local government and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in July with free engines and fishing gear. The project will provide more boats to more fishermen late this year.

With Noli, Ted, and Gerry joining forces for DZMM’s morning block, DZMM remains to be Mega Manila’s only number one AM radio station. In May, it logged an average total day audience share of 30%, versus DWWW’s 18%, DZBB’s 16%, and DZRH’s 14%.

DZMM’s 28th anniversary celebration also continues as it brings back the “Radyo sa Beinte Otso” promo. Stay tuned to DZMM programs for the announcement of the promo run to win special prizes.

For the latest news and commentary every morning, tune in to ‘Garantisadong Balita (5AM), ‘Kabayan’ (6AM), ‘Radyo Patrol Balita’ (7AM), and ‘Failon Ngayon sa DZMM’ (8AM) on DZMM Radyo Patrol Sais Trenta, the number one AM radio station in Mega Manila, DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26), or via online livestreaming on dzmm.com.ph.

DZMM CONTINUES TO LEAD IN NEWS AND PUBLIC SERVICE

DZMM

DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 continues to be the first in news and public service after placing number one in a radio survey and taking the lead in delivering information and analysis regarding the upcoming election.

The multi-awarded AM radio station remains on top according to the results of a survey conducted by Kantar Media and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) among 11 radio stations in Metro Manila from December 11 to 17, 2015.

DZMM got a 38% share in the survey, well ahead of rival station DZBB, which only managed a 23.3% share in the survey conducted among 1000 individuals aged ten years old and above in Metro Manila. They are followed by DZRH (15.4%), DWWW (8.8%), and DWXI (7.0%).

Based on the survey, DZMM can be considered as the number one AM radio station in Metro Manila and Mega Manila for the year of 2015 since it recorded the highest full year average audience share of 32% compared to the 17% of DWWW, 15% of DZBB, 13% of DZRH and 5% of DWXI.

And this 2016, the station still leads in delivering important and relevant information to the Filipino people as they are set to elect the nation’s new leaders in the national polls in May.

DZMM was the first to complete interviews on the candidates for the presidency, vice presidency, and senators by way of their “Ikaw na Ba ang Para sa Pamilyang Pilipino” interview series. This is where the public first heard and saw the candidates directly answering the accusations made against them and presenting their platforms and opinions on various issues in society.

Through the straightforward and hard-hitting questions of seasoned broadcasters Karen Davila, Vic De Leon-Lima, Gerry Baja, and Anthony Taberna, the likes of vice president Jejomar Binay, Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte, senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, senator Grace Poe, and former Department of Interior and Local Government secretary Mar Roxas were free to speak their minds and hearts on the issues raised.

Here, Binay reiterated that he did not steal from the people, “Sa Diyos, sa tao, ‘di ako nakasama diyan, ‘di ako tumanggap ng pera sa mga ibinibintang nila.” Meanwhile, Poe insisted that her citizenship is that of a Filipino, saying, “Ako ay Pilipino. On the other hand, Santiago said she is ready for the long battle ahead, “Stable na ang cancer, puwede na akong magtrabaho.”

Roxas and Duterte, stood firm on their views regarding controversial issues. Roxas said about the Bangsamoro Basic Law, “Ang BBL ay pamamaraan para magkaroon ng kapayapaan sa Mindanao, ‘yan ang hangarin natin, ‘yan ang ipapatupad sakaling palarin tayo.” For Duterte, he believes that bringing back the death penalty is the solution to erase the problem on drugs that is plaguing the country.

Apart from the candidates, voices of ordinary Filipinos from various barangays in Metro Manila, Baguio, Bicol, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, and Iloilo were heard thanks to the help of Radyo Patrol reporters and anchors and field reporters of DZMM.

Candidates for the vice presidency like senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Chiz Escudero, Gringo Honasan, Bongbong Marcos, and Sonny Trillanes, and House representative Leni Robredo, also took up the challenge and even tried to outdo each other in a pop quiz on the history of the country, laws, and other matters.

According to ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs head Ging Reyes, the aim of DZMM in the “Ikaw na Ba” series is for Filipinos to get to know the people who they want to lead the country.

“We went beyond the usual news stories that allowed candidates little time to expound on their plans and positions on important issues.  We hope the ‘Ikaw na Ba Para sa Pamilyang Pilipino’ series gave the public an opportunity to think and rethink about their choices and analyze where the candidates stood on the issues that matter to them and their families. In this series, we held nothing back, we wanted to make sure all the questions and issues were raised, and addressed by the candidates.  It’s now up to the voting public to judge each of these candidates based on their sincerity, preparedness, competence and willingness to serve their country,” she explained.

Furthermore, DZMM also launched a forum to help the people use their votes wisely this 2016 elections. During the “DZMM Pasado? Para sa Pamilyang Pilipino Forum” held at the Rizal Park Open Auditorium last March 16, experts fleshed out how Filipino vote, the real meaning behind the words and actions of candidates, and what qualities Filipinos should look for in those that are running. In the next forum of DZMM, they shift their focus on the readiness of the Commission on Elections in holding the elections this May.

DZMM is the AM radio station in Mega Manila of ABS-CBN, the largest media and entertainment company in the country. One can re-watch the videos of the Ikaw na Ba ang Para sa Pamilyang Pilipino” interview series and “DZMM Pasado? Para sa Pamilyang Pilipino Forum” at www.dzmm.com.ph. A replay of the interviews will also be aired on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM Teleradyo on SkyCable and ABS-CBN TV Plus.

With the series of presidential debates done and with less than two weeks to go before the May 9 elections, DZMM is shifting the spotlight from the candidates and voters to the people, poll body and other government stakeholders who can ensure the success of the national polls.

This Wednesday (April 27), the leading AM radio station in Mega Manila and the nation’s number 1 cable news and commentary channel will focus on the election preparedness of the nation through the “DZMM Handa Ka Na Ba? Para Ipanalo ang Pamilyang Pilipino!” Halalan forum to be moderated by multi-awarded broadcast journalists Anthony Taberna, Gerry Baja, Vic De Leon Lima, and Karen Davila.

The four will take turns in probing the key people in organizing the elections, and maintaining peace and order in the entire election season – the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, PPCRV, Smartmatic and also the Department of Energy.

Comelec chairman Andres Bautista will lead the speakers who will answer questions on how ready we are for the things that can transpire in the elections such as malfunction of machines, brownouts, or even safety and peace and order. Different election watchdogs, teachers group, students and families will also attend and participate in the event.

There will also be a demonstration on how to use the vote counting machine (VCM) that will be conducted by a real Filipino family who are voting together in the coming elections.

The “Handa KNB?  Para Ipanalo ang Pamilyang Pilipino!”” forum is the third in a series of offerings of DZMM that’s in line with ABS-CBN’s “Halalan 2016: Ipanalo ang Pamilyang Pilipino” election campaign. DZMM was the first to complete interviews on all presidential and vice presidential candidates through Ikaw Na Ba? Para Ipanalo ang Pamilyang Pilipino. It also held the first “DZMM Pasado? Election Forum,” which analyzed the strategies of political candidates in wooing voters and also the voting preferences of Filipinos. Anchored by Ted Failon, the forum aimed to help guide voters in choosing the candidates they will support.

The “DZMM Handa Ka Na Ba? Para Ipanalo ang Pamilyang Pilipino!” forum will be held at 4:30pm at the Dolphy Theater inside the ABS-CBN compound and will be aired live over DZMM 630 on AM radio and DZMM TeleRadyo on cable television and digital television (ABS-CBN TVplus). It can also be heard via audio streaming at www.dzmm.com.ph. Be part of the conversation by using the hashtag #DZMMHandaKNB.

TV Patrol, anchored by Noli De Castro, Bernadette Sembrano and Ted Failon, was the most watched program on Election Day
ABS-CBN’s flagship newscast “TV Patrol” was the most watched TV program on election day, garnering the highest national TV rating last May 9 with 31.1% based on data from Kantar Media.

On a day when all TV networks launched their own special news coverage of the 2016 national elections, most viewers chose to tune in to “TV Patrol” on primetime to get the latest news on election results and issues. “TV Patrol” rated eight percentage points higher than  “24 Oras” (23.1%).

This special edition of “TV Patrol” was part of the “Halalan 2016 Ipanalo ang Pamilyang Pilipino” marathon election coverage of ABS-CBN News, the country’s largest news organization.  Viewers were also glued to ABS-CBN’s extensive and comprehensive coverage, which began as early as 10pm on May 8 on DZMM, 3:30am on ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel and 5am on ABS-CBN, both on May 9.

On May 9, ABS-CBN’s Halalan 2016 special coverage got 10.2% national TV rating versus 8% of GMA’s Eleksyon 2016 in the morning. It also beat competition’s regular programs and special news coverage in the afternoon with 14.0%.  The coverage also sustained its double digit rating after “TV Patrol.”

A day after the elections, Filipinos continued to tune in to ABS-CBN for election news. “Umagang Kay Ganda” won in the ratings 10% to GMA’s Eleksyon 2016’s 7%. The rating also spiked to 17.6% as ABS-CBN wrapped up its special coverage before noontime, beating even the regular programs of GMA.

Filipinos, however, were tuned in not only on television but also on ABS-CBN’s other media platforms, which were also active in delivering news and information to reach as many people as possible. Live streaming on iWant TV, ABS-CBN’s pioneering video-on-demand and livestreaming site, and on news.abs-cbn.com, enabled Filipinos who were mobile or without access to a TV to stay informed wherever they were at that time.

Moreover, apart from the usual live reports, breaking news, and analysis of events, ABS-CBN News incorporated social media listening in its coverage, giving importance to the voice of the people. Through social media listening, people were informed on the latest buzz and pulse online and were made aware of the topics and issues important to Filipino netizens at that time. It also partnered with two of the most influential social media platforms, Twitter and Facebook, for this election coverage.

Apart from news and information, ABS-CBN also empowered Filipinos by providing them with the ultimate voter experience via the COMELEC Halalan App, which allowed users to check their voter status, find their precinct, know the candidates, create a sample ballot, report election violations, and stay updated on election news all in one application. The app, which was first introduced in 2013, is downloadable for free via Google Play and App Store.

ABS-CBN’s “Halalan 2016 Ipanalo ang Pamilyang Pilipino” cross platform news coverage continues as the nation awaits the official results of the election. Stay tuned to ABS-CBN on free TV, DZMM on AM radio, ANC and ABS-CBN HD on SKYcable, and DZMM TeleRadyo on SKYcable and TVPlus. TJ Manotoc and Cathy Yang on board for their shift in ANC's Halalan 2016 special coverage

DZMM celebrates its 30th anniversary starting Friday with a new station ID
For thirty years, DZMM,  the AM radio station of the country’s leading media and entertainment organization, has been a bastion of news and information and public service to the Filipinos since the end of the Martial Law era, and has since evolved and retooled to cater to its digital audience at the turn of the century.

On its 30th anniversary, it is only fitting that one of the most popular and most active radio stations in the land celebrate in a grand manner, unveiling a new station ID that shows the station’s iconic anchors and reporters looking back on the bigggest coverages of the station  in the past three decades.

The new station ID, which features ABS-CBN marquee actor Piolo Pascual singing the DZMM theme, will premiere on national TV on Friday (July 1) right after the broadcast of “TV Patrol” on ABS-CBN.

The station known to be the leader in news and public service, has more in store for its listeners and viewers. One of them is a special feature called “Kwento ng Tatlong Dekada” that will reminisce on some of its reports on the biggest issues, scandals, tragedies, and victories in Philippine history beginning July 22. The feature will air in different DZMM programs and will also bring back former anchors and reporters to relive the important stories of the past.

DZMM will also honor its tradition of serving the Filipino with three public service events. The 3rd Red Alert Emergency Expo on July 9 in Tanay, Rizal will give emergency training to 200 students and faculty members from different universities in Metro Manila, the annual bloodletting activity Dugong Alay Para Sa Kapamilya that will be held on July 23 at the Fishermall in Quezon City, and the DZMM Grand Kapamilya Day on July 21 at San Andres Sports Complex in Manila that will serve thousands with its medical mission, talks, and storytelling for kids with DZMM’s TLC (Teaching Learning Caring) trucks making its way there with DZMM anchors and reporters.

For the past three decades, DZMM has remained staunch and unflinching in its news delivery and programs, striving to incite change wherever it could.

DZMM led in harnessing technology to keep up with the changes in the industry and society. From the AM band, the TeleRadyo was launched on cable, the first time radio programs were simulcast on TV, then it began to offer live audio streaming on dzmm.com.ph. More people are now able to watch it on digital television via ABS-CBNTVplus.

ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs head Ging Reyes emphasized the importance of freedom in DZMM’s history and evolution.

In the speech she delivered during Independence Day, she said, “May tatlumpung taon nang nakalipas matapos ang People Power Revolution nang magbalik ang radyo sa ABS-CBN bilang DZMM na tinawag nating himpilan ng malayang mamayan…kalayaan ang pundasyon noon, ito pa rin ang sandigan hanggang ngayon.”

Join the celebration of DZMM’s 30 years of news and public service, “Pamana ng Tatlong Dekada” starting July 1 with the new station ID launch after “TV Patrol” on ABS-CBN. Stay updated on news and DZMM’s public service offerings by following DZMM on social media (@DZMMTeleRadyo) or visiting www.dzmm.com.ph.

Gerry Baja, Radio Broadcaster of the Year

Gerry Baja poses with his new trophies after being named Radio Broadcaster of the Year by the Rotary Club of Manila.

DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, has another reason to celebrate after being hailed as the Radio Station of the Year at the Rotary Club of Manila’s (RCM) annual Journalism Awards held at the New World Hotel ballroom last June 30. The flagship AM radio station of ABS-CBN and the number one AM radio station in Mega Manila, DZMM also received the same honor last year.

“We are humbled by this acknowledgement of our efforts by the Rotary Club of Manila. We always strive to be faithful to the needs of our audience, whether it’s news, analysis and commentary or public service events. This recognition serves to remind us why we do what we do. DZMM, and the entire ABS-CBN News, will continue to respond to needs of the Filipino. We’ve been doing it for 30 years, and we remain focused on continuing this mission in the years to come,” said Ging Reyes, head of the ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs.
ABS-CBN, the Philippines’ leading media and entertainment company, won three other distinctions to be the most awarded news organization that night.

“S.O.C.O.: Scene of the Crime Operatives” host Gus Abelgas was awarded the Television Male Broadcaster of the Year, while “Dos Por Dos” anchor Gerry Baja took home the Radio Broadcaster of the Year award.

Abelgas’ long-running crime investigative program has consistently rated high in its weekend timeslot, with viewers tuning in to learn how to protect their families based on the experiences featured in the show. Baja, meanwhile, continues to provide news analysis and sharp commentary on issues in his radio program.

Fellow DZMM anchor and reporter, Jasmin Romero, was honored by RCM as Radio Female Broadcaster of the Year. While also reporting for ABS-CBN on TV, Romero showed she is still tops in the platform where she first made a name for herself.

Now on its 30th year, DZMM has constantly evolved to reach more Filipinos. It has the first-ever radio-television simulcast in DZMM TeleRadyo on SkyCable and ABS-CBN TVplus, while it also offers audio streaming on its website www.dzmm.com.ph and news updates on Twitter and Facebook (@DZMMTeleRadyo).

These triumphs of ABS-CBN came on the heels of a successful Inauguration Day coverage dubbed “Ang Panunumpa: Pangako ng Pagbabago,” which rated higher than its competitors according to ratings data provider Kantar Media. ABS-CBN’s coverage garnered an 18.8% national TV rating while GMA’s coverage only managed 13.4%.

One of the oldest and most prestigious award-giving bodies in journalism, the RCM Journalism Awards has been recognizing outstanding individuals and organizations in Philippine media annually since 1966.

DZMM, ITINANGHAL NA RADIO STATION OF THE YEAR

NG ROTARY CLUB OF MANILA
